Delaware Concealed Carry & Permit to Purchase Training

One course that satisfies Delaware’s training requirement for either a Concealed Carry Permit or a Permit to Purchase a Handgun.

This Delaware course satisfies the statutorily required firearms training for both the Concealed Carry Permit and the Permit to Purchase a Handgun.

The course is appropriate for both new and experienced firearm owners and covers firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, and Delaware and federal law related to handgun ownership, transportation, storage, and use of force.

This training satisfies the statutorily required training portion for permit applications in Delaware but does not include fingerprinting, background checks, or issuance of a permit.

Course Structure

This one-day, one location program begins with classroom instruction and practical exercises utilizing our interactive shooting simulator. Following the classroom portion, students will under-go live-fire instruction on the range. Courses are held at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD.

Eligibility

Students must be at least eighteen (18) years old to attend this course. Permit age requirements vary by permit and state:

  • Delaware Concealed Carry Permit (CCDW): 18+

  • Delaware Permit to Purchase a Handgun: 21+

  • Maryland Wear & Carry Permit: 21+

  • New Jersey Permit to Carry: 21+

Multi-State Training Options

  • New Jersey:
    NJ-specific instruction may be completed as a same-day add-on or as private instruction.

  • Maryland:
    MD requires sixteen (16) hours of training. This course satisfies the first eight (8) hours when paired with our Maryland Extension Training.

  • Pennsylvania:
    PA does not require firearms training for a License to Carry Firearms. However, non-resident applicants must first hold a valid concealed carry permit from their home state. For Delaware residents, this means obtaining a Delaware Concealed Carry Permit before applying in Pennsylvania.

  • At least two (2) magazines

  • 100 rounds of ammunition

  • Eye & hearing protection

Rental packages are available at checkout for those who don’t have their own firearm. Those opting for the NJ Add-On should bring an additional 50 rounds of ammunition and a quality belt mounted holster.
