Delaware Concealed Carry Course / Permit to Purchase a Handgun Course

This comprehensive course is designed for individuals seeking to carry concealed in Delaware or those applying for a Delaware Permit to Purchase a Handgun. It is also an excellent choice for any firearm owner, regardless of experience level. Participants will gain essential knowledge every responsible gun owner should have including firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, state and federal law covering ownership, transportation, storage, use of force, and more.

Course Structure

This one-day, one location program begins with classroom instruction and practical exercises utilizing our interactive shooting simulator. Following the classroom portion, students will under-go live-fire instruction on the range. Courses are held at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD.

Required Materials

You’ll need a handgun, at least two magazines, 100rds of ammunition, eye protection, hearing protection, hydration and climate appropriate clothing. Rental packages are available at checkout. Those opting for the NJ Add-On should bring an additional 50rds of ammunition and a quality belt mounted holster.

Maryland Concealed Carry Course

$150 | 8 Additional Hours (16 Hours Total - Requires Our DE Course First)

This add-on course is designed for individuals seeking to carry concealed in Maryland - both residents and non-residents. Maryland law requires a total of sixteen (16) hours of training. Because our Delaware Concealed Carry Course covers many of the same core topics, it fulfills the first eight (8) hours of Maryland’s training requirement. Completion of our Delaware course is required prior to enrolling in this Maryland add-on course.

Course Structure

This second day of training includes an advanced classroom session featuring in-depth instruction and scenario-based exercises using our interactive Use of Force Simulator. Students will then transition to the range for live-fire qualification and additional practical application. Courses are held at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD.

New Jersey Concealed Carry Course

$150 | 2 Hours

This course is for those looking to carry concealed in New Jersey - both residents and non-residents. We’ll cover all the topics as required by New Jersey’s Civilian Carry Assessment and Range Evaluation (CCARE) Protocol.

Course Structure

This is a two hour live-fire course conducted at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD.

Defensive Pistol Course

$175 | 4 Hours

This course is designed for experienced shooters seeking to enhance their pistol proficiency and master advanced defensive shooting techniques. Participants will develop and refine their skills through practical, hands-on exercises covering:

Course Structure

Instruction consists of four hours of dedicated range time at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD. Class sizes are intentionally limited to ensure each student receives personalized instruction and focused coaching.

Prerequisites

This is not a beginner-level course. Students must have a solid understanding of firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, and operational familiarity with their own firearm prior to attending.

Required Materials

You’ll need a handgun, at least two magazines, at least 200rds of ammunition, quality belt mounted holster, quality belt mounted spare magazine pouch, eye protection, hearing protection, hydration and climate appropriate clothing.

Private Range Session

$150 ($75 Per Additional Student) | 2 Hours

For those seeking to expand their knowledge and improve their firearm proficiency, we offer private two-hour range sessions for both individuals and groups with one of our certified instructors.

Course Structure

Instruction consists of two hours of dedicated range time at Alex Acres Rifle & Pistol Range in Galena, MD. Each session is fully customized to your experience level and goals, ensuring productive, individualized instruction. Whether you’re a first-time shooter or an experienced carrier looking to refine specific skills, our instructors will focus on the areas that matter most to your development and confidence.

Contact Us

  • Delaware residents must obtain a “Handgun Qualified Purchaser Permit” in order to purchase a handgun as of 11/16/25. Those who have a valid Delaware Concealed Carry of a Deadly Weapon (CCDW) permit are exempt from this requirement.

    The training course required for both the permit to purchase and concealed carry are identical. While the initial application process for a CCDW may be marginally more expensive and lengthy, it is far better to obtain your CCDW.

  • Residents of Delaware can apply for a DE license. Non-residents of Delaware can take our Delaware course and use it to apply for a Florida and/or Arizona permit which would allow them to carry while in DE.

  • Both residents and non-residents of Maryland can apply for a MD license.

    Please note that current and prior military members are exempt from Maryland’s training requirement.

  • Both residents and non-residents of New Jersey can apply for a NJ license.

  • The State of Maryland requires sixteen (16) hours of training. As Maryland and Delaware require a lot of the same material, our eight (8) hour Delaware course doubles as the first half of the training requirement for Maryland.

    Don’t be confused if you already have your Delaware permit; you still need to complete sixteen (16) total hours of training. Consider our Delaware course as “Maryland Day 1.”

    Please note that we cannot provide credit towards previous courses taken from other instructors. You must have completed our Delaware Course within a reasonable amount of time prior to taking our Maryland Add-On Course.

  • Absolutely! Our carry courses are designed to accommodate students who have zero experience with firearms and those with years of experience. Our DE & MD courses go through everything in a classroom setting and use our interactive shooting simulator before you ever step foot on a range. You can also book a Private Range Session if you prefer an individual experience to build up your skills before taking a carry course.
