Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Which course should I start with?
1
Most students begin with our Delaware Concealed Carry & Permit to Purchase Training, which serves as our core course. This training satisfies Delaware’s requirements and also provides the foundation for Maryland and New Jersey extension training. If you’re unsure, starting with Delaware is usually the correct choice.
Do I need to be a Delaware resident to take your courses?
2
No. You do not need to be a Delaware resident to attend training. However, Delaware permits are only available to Delaware residents, while Maryland and New Jersey permits may be available to both residents and non-residents.
Do I need prior firearms experience to attend?
3
No prior firearms experience is required for our Delaware course. Instruction is designed for both new and experienced firearm owners and begins with safety and core fundamentals. Our Advanced Pistol Course is better suited for students with prior training or experience, while Private Range Sessions are available for shooters of all skill levels.
What is the minimum age to attend training?
4
Students must be at least 18 years old to attend training. Permit eligibility varies by state and permit type, with some permits requiring applicants to be 21 years old. We recommend reviewing the eligibility requirements for the specific permit you intend to apply for.
Does one course cover both Delaware Concealed Carry and the Permit to Purchase?
5
Yes. Delaware law requires the same firearms training for both permits, and our Delaware Concealed Carry & Permit to Purchase Training satisfies that single requirement. No additional or separate Permit to Purchase class is required.
Can your training be used to apply for permits in other states?
6
Our training may be accepted for permit applications in other states, depending on the state’s requirements. Many students use our Delaware training as part of applications for Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Arizona among others. Acceptance is determined by the issuing authority, not the training provider.
How does Maryland Wear & Carry training work?
7
Maryland requires 16 hours of training for original Wear & Carry permit applications. Our Delaware course satisfies the first 8 hours, and the Maryland Wear & Carry Extension Training completes the remaining Maryland-specific instruction and qualification.
How is New Jersey Permit to Carry training offered?
8
New Jersey instruction is most commonly completed as a same-day add-on when combined with qualifying prior training. Private New Jersey instruction may also be scheduled by appointment when appropriate. All New Jersey training includes classroom instruction and live-fire qualification consistent with state requirements.
Do I need my own firearm to attend?
9
No. Rental packages are available for most courses for students who do not have their own firearm. Availability and requirements vary by course, so we recommend reviewing the course page or contacting us in advance.
What should I bring to class?
10
Students should bring a government-issued photo ID, eye and hearing protection, and any required equipment listed on the course page. Ammunition and holster requirements vary by course. Detailed equipment lists are provided with course registration and confirmation.
How often are courses offered?
12
Delaware courses are typically offered bi-weekly. Maryland and New Jersey extension training is offered periodically based on demand, and private instruction is scheduled by appointment. Current availability can be found on the course registration pages.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
13
Policies regarding cancellations, rescheduling, and refunds are outlined during registration and in your confirmation materials. Because class sizes are limited, advance notice is required for any changes. Please review the policy carefully before registering.
Can my child attend a private range session?
11
In some cases, minors may be accommodated during private range sessions, depending on age, maturity level, and the specific training objectives. Instruction involving a minor is handled on a case-by-case basis and requires advance discussion.
This option is not part of our standard course offerings. If you’re considering private instruction involving a minor, please contact us to discuss your situation.
Do you offer a military or veteran discount?
14
Yes. We offer a 10% discount for active duty military and veterans. Please contact us prior to registering and we will provide a discount code for use during checkout.
Are military members required to complete Maryland Wear & Carry training?
15
Active duty military and honorably discharged veterans are exempt from Maryland’s training requirement. Applicants must provide proof of military service (such as a DD-214) when applying.
Training is not required; however, many military applicants still attend for the Maryland law and use-of-force portion of the class to help avoid common legal pitfalls.
If you are unsure whether training would benefit your situation, feel free to contact us before registering.
